Life In Southern Ontario – travels in 2008

Life in Southern Ontario

(and assorted trips from there as well)

by David “Sumoflam” Kravetz

Since Feb. 2008, I have had the opportunity to work in Woodstock, Ontario as a Japanese interpreter at the Toyota plant that was being built there.  During that time I spent a few months renting a small apartment which was in the beautiful little river town of Paris.  I returned back to Lexington about once a month, but also spent many of my free weekends either traveling around Ontario or taking a few trips back to the States.

Following are links to many of the trip journals and photographs I documented during my time in Southern Ontario and the surrounding regions.  One thing that I had come to realize…many of us are way too busy traveling the freeways of life and we miss all the little things.  Every town and village has a story!!

Paris, Ontario – My former home away from home with some other interesting sites in
the area

Jakeman’s Maple Farm – One of Canada’s premier Maple Syrup farms.  See how it’s made and how we enjoyed it

Nightmares & Dreams –  I took a trip to Cleveland and was devastated by a nightmarish car accident

Yard Art, Swans and Mennonites– Amazing what an afternoon’s drive around southern Ontario can provide for fun

Southern Ontario with my friends – Join me and my 14 Japanese buddies from Toyota on a day trip around Southern Ontario.

Camp 31 – THE BEST BBQ I have ever had!!

Philadelphia – I take a trip to see my buddy Aaron Boone play an Arena Football game and have all sorts of adventures.

West Virginia/W. Pennsylvania – Coming back to Ontario on this trip I decided to deviate from the usual freeways and made my way along the Ohio River in West Virginia.  I even made my way to Mars!!

Woodstock/Oxford County, Ontario – Where I worked. Historic buildings, cows and interesting swamp stories.

Sparta, Ontario – A trip to a quaint and whimsical little corner of SW Ontario.

Paris Bakery: A Brant County institution with some great goodies

Mennonite Country, Elora Gorge – A nice trip through the backroads along the Grand River country of southern Ontario
