People Shots from My Travels – Part II: Cebu, Philippines

Motorbike Quartet Motorbike Quartet – near Cebu[/caption] In 2006 and 2007 I took two trips to Cebu, Philippines while I was working for Lexmark.  During these trips of 2 weeks and 6 weeks, I spent the evenings and weekends either visiting places in the city or else taking road trips on the island or boat trips to nearby islands.  During these trips, I took a number of candid photos of people.  Following are some of my favorites, with a few descriptions. [caption id="attachment_688" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Bohol Truck - Bohol Island Bohol Truck – Bohol Island[/caption] [caption id="attachment_686" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Family - Bohol Island Family – Bohol Island[/caption] We saw this guy tear up the outer skin of a coconut completely with his teeth.  This is one of a series of shots I got of him doing it. [caption id="attachment_687" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Diving Boys - Bohol Island Diving Boys – Bohol Island[/caption] Took the following at an old church on Cebu Island.  It was a lucky break. [caption id="attachment_676" align="aligncenter" width="640"]The Bride - Cebu The Bride – Cebu[/caption] This is one of my favorites from Cebu.  I believe that this must be a form of friendship or something. [caption id="attachment_671" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Grilled Chicken - Mactan Island Grilled Chicken Street Vendor – Mactan Island[/caption] While on Mactan Island, I visited a guitar “factory”.  There were a dozen or more people in an open air building assembling guitars. This was the best of the bunch. [caption id="attachment_670" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Guitar Man - Mactan Island Guitar Man – Mactan Island[/caption] [caption id="attachment_669" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Napping Boatman - off of Mactan Island Napping Boatman – off of Mactan Island[/caption] On one of my Island Hopping trips I made it to the small island of Caohagan. These people live a very simple island life.  Many have no electricity.  The island lives off of fishing and tourists.  I saw many great shots and educed a lot out of experience off of the trip, and have contributed a great deal at Tailored Tackle about some fishing techniques. [caption id="attachment_668" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Boatman - Caohagan Island Boatman – Caohagan Island[/caption] [caption id="attachment_667" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Swinging Boy - Caohagan Island Swinging Boy – Caohagan Island[/caption] [caption id="attachment_666" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Laughing Girl - Caohagan Island Laughing Girl – Caohagan Island[/caption] [caption id="attachment_665" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Mother and Son - Caohagan Island Mother and Son – Caohagan Island[/caption] [caption id="attachment_663" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Curiosity - Caohagan Island Curiosity – Caohagan Island[/caption] The following shot is one of my all time favorites that I have taken anywhere.  This little girl was shy, but willing to pose. [caption id="attachment_664" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Shy Girl - Caohagan Island Shy Girl – Caohagan Island[/caption] I took this next photo while we were on a boat ride off of the coast of Mactan Island. We all swam in crystal clear waters.  I actually was working with the two guys in the photo while I was in Cebu.  We still keep in touch. [caption id="attachment_662" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Diving In - off of Mactan Island Diving In – off of Mactan Island[/caption] [caption id="attachment_661" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Bike Taxi - Cebu Bike Taxi – Cebu[/caption] [caption id="attachment_660" align="aligncenter" width="640"]Jeepney Rider - Cebu Jeepney Rider – Cebu[/caption] I was awestruck at how dirty this street guy was in the market place.  Others just seemed to ignore him.
